Guide
Rugby club membership payments.
Senior, youth and family rates for a season that usually starts in September. This page is for rugby union. A parent can pay for a mini or a youth player on the one form.
The season
The rugby union season usually runs from September into the spring, with minis and youths alongside the adult teams. Some clubs also charge for a summer camp as its own membership. Set the dates to the year you are collecting for.
On subs.ie you set the season dates and a due date. Email reminders count from that due date. They go out on the days you choose, never more than one every three days, and they stop once the member has paid.
Juvenile, adult and family rates
The usual split is a senior player, youths and minis, a student player, a family rate, and a social membership for supporters and past players. You name the types and type the prices.
The club names each membership and sets the price. A type can have a minimum age, a maximum age, or both, checked on a date you choose. A family membership is one price. You can limit how many adults and how many children it includes. An adult, for that count, is 18 or over on that date. On other memberships you can cap what a household pays, so a family is not charged more than the amount you choose.
Members can pay the full amount by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A treasurer can record cash, a bank transfer or a cheque, and those payments have no online fee. A membership can be split into 2 to 10 monthly payments of at least €5. Members only see instalments once that option is switched on for the club. The detail is in Instalments for club fees.
Registration and insurance
Rugby union clubs register players with the Irish Rugby Football Union. Rugby league is a different sport, registered with Rugby League Ireland. Any registration or insurance amount the club passes on is a price you type in. subs.ie does not look up that fee.

Questions
When do rugby clubs usually collect membership fees?
Clubs usually collect for a September start and play through the spring. A summer camp can be its own membership, with its own price, in the same season.
Can adults and children be different prices?
Senior, youth, student and family rates are the usual split, plus a social membership if you want one. Each membership has its own price and its own age rule, checked on a date you set. A family membership is one price. You can limit how many adults and children it includes, and you can cap what a household pays.
Does subs.ie register players with the Irish Rugby Football Union?
No. Registration with the Irish Rugby Football Union stays with the club. A governing body number can be stored on the member and is included in the registration spreadsheet. You download the file. subs.ie does not send it.
What does a rugby club pay for an online payment?
One fee on each online payment, including VAT and the card fees. The club decides whether it covers that fee or the member sees it as its own line. Cash, a bank transfer or a cheque recorded by the treasurer has no online fee. The pricing page shows the rate.
