Guide

Swimming club membership payments.

Junior, adult and family rates for a club that usually swims all year and renews around September. A parent adds each child on the one form. Swim Ireland registration is a spreadsheet you download.

The season

Most clubs swim through the year and renew around September, in line with the school year. A learn-to-swim block can be a shorter membership with its own price. Set the season to the dates you are collecting for.

On subs.ie you set the season dates and a due date. Email reminders count from that due date. They go out on the days you choose, never more than one every three days, and they stop once the member has paid.

Juvenile, adult and family rates

A junior swimmer, an adult swimmer and a family rate are the usual split. A non-swimming membership can cover parents, volunteers and officials. Masters swimmers can be their own membership with a minimum age.

The club names each membership and sets the price. A type can have a minimum age, a maximum age, or both, checked on a date you choose. A family membership is one price. You can limit how many adults and how many children it includes. An adult, for that count, is 18 or over on that date. On other memberships you can cap what a household pays, so a family is not charged more than the amount you choose.

Members can pay the full amount by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A treasurer can record cash, a bank transfer or a cheque, and those payments have no online fee. A membership can be split into 2 to 10 monthly payments of at least €5. Members only see instalments once that option is switched on for the club. The detail is in Instalments for club fees.

Registration and insurance

Clubs register members with Swim Ireland. Learn-to-swim, age-group, masters and non-swimming members can be different memberships. Any Swim Ireland amount the club passes on is a price you set. subs.ie does not look up that fee.
